We designed and implemented an e-commerce system for visually impaired people to interact and get resources easily. This system ensures visually impaired users to better understand what is around in the e-commerce site, this includes to make them feel the cover page images, promo banners and other images from the site.
Business Challenge
- It is easier for visually impaired people to read content from the site using text reader software, but hard to make them feel what is exactly available on the cover page images, promo banners and other images around the site.
How Avasoft helped?
- We have implemented a feature using computer vision API service from Azure to extract rich information from images.
- System identifies caption for the cover page image and promo banner image whenever an image resource is included in the e-commerce system.
- This feature conveys the information about visual content found in the web page images.
Tech Stack
Business Gains from this feature
- A good description of what is happening in the portrait, type of portrait and color schemes used in the picture is clearly explained for people to assume and feel the image as it is in the webpage
- The feature is created in compliance with W3C and Section 503 standards, which will enable the screen reader software to read out the contents to the users with vision loss.
- Higher reach of the site contents to the visually impaired users which reflected in the form of increased traffic to the site reaching the maximum audience.
